so. ever been looking in the mirror …doesn’t matter the time of day…and you see a hair? A long hair? You know..on your face? There’s that complete moment of incredulousness…that, no way…how could you have not seen this 1″ long hair? Did it grow overnight? Did it miraculously happen in the last half hour? This has happened to me.
This morning I couldn’t sleep, and finally gave in at about 4:30 a.m. In my bleary eyed state I threw on some clothes and went to head to the studio when i caught myself in the mirror and paused for uno momento. Lo and behold, there was the dreaded long face hair. Seriously? How does this happen?
Life here has been pretty out of control lately. Not in the hectic ‘oh my GOD…we are freaking out!’ out of control…but in an extremely controlled, out of control way. Don’t take me the wrong way…, business is booming and fabulous and we’re busting at the seams and that being said..
Friday was the end of the month and ran the numbers for September. It’s no secret to us that we’ve been busy as all get out, but seeing our numbers on paper for our best month EVER was mind blowing..and has kind of thrown me into a numbing realm of ‘holy shit’ and ‘what the hell?’..and ‘is this cool?’ It’s propelling me to think about things like ‘holy crap, i employ people..and what if it all goes to shit?’, and ‘what if no one wants to buy another stupid thing and i have no job..what am i going to do?’ and then there’s the ever present ‘I swear i will sell a kidney before i ever go back to waiting tables..”
Several cups of coffee in the studio later I wandered in to scramble the eggs and pour the juice, make sure lunches made it as far as backpacks, emptied the dishwasher (i freakin’ detest emptying the dishwasher…), waited on the corner for the bus, fed the dog, cleaned the kitchen again, and back into the studio for more coffee.
I think it’s like the fine line between love and hate..the horror and the exaltation. The hair, i believe, belonged to the dog..and thankfully was not sprouting from my eyebrow. Things can change in a SECOND…and not always for the worse. Nope…not always. We’ll see what tomorrow’s wild hair may bring.
